Description
ROOSEVELT, THEODORE. 1919-1858. A typed letter signed on White House stationery, dated January 30, 1902. The letter is marked "Personal" and is addressed to Henry Loomis Nelson (1846-1908), an American author/journalist, in Washington D.C. The letter reads: "My Dear Mr. Nelson: As soon as Governor Shaw is in I will get him to take up that matter at length with you." The typed portion is followed by an addition in the President's hand, which reads: "I thank you for the Atlantic article." The full sheet measures 14 1/8in x 9in (folded in half for the letter; 9in x 7in). Paper is watermarked: Crane's. Condition: Unfolded, the sheet has three vertical fold creases, a horizontal fold crease, and other scattered light creasing; the sheet is toned and soiled, including a darker band along the right margin of the letter, and along the fold creases verso.
